Profile on Bobbye Finley Fentress

Bobbye has been drawing since she was a young child and used the sidewalk of her home in Edgewater in Norfolk, Va.  “Just give her a piece of paper and a pencil and she’ll draw for hours,” she recalls her mother saying many times.

Bobbye worked as layout artist for The Beacon Newspaper.  When later becoming a correspondent for the newspaper; she often drew caricatures to accompany her weekly column.

Having tried her hand at every medium, she admits getting “hooked” on watercolors once she started.  Having lived at the beach for a number of years; she finds that she leans toward beach subject matter.  An avid nature-lover, she also enjoys painting flowers.  When not working at this, her attention often turns to animals.  “But I’m truly a cat-fancier,” she said. Obviously, she enjoys painting a variety of subjects.

Her work has been exhibited locally, as well as in several galleries in North Carolina.
